24 Before 24 Update!

Alright, I've been putting this post off because I really wanted to cross more things off my goal list, but I figured I should go ahead and post it. This way I'm more motivated to keep going!

Here is my original post of goals to accomplish. I keep up with them monthly on paper, but for the sake of shortening this post I'm going to summarize what I've been doing the past four months.

I have sold 66 out of the 100 handmade items I wanted to sell this year! I'm so proud of this and have been thinking about changing the number, but I'd like to just keep on growing.

Another thing on the list was to improve my credit score. I've gotten 3 credit cards this year and make small purchases monthly and pay them off right away. My credit score has gone up, so goal accomplished!

I've actually read two more books, but that's been since the beginning of this month. Yes, I read 50 Shades of Grey. I had to see what the hype was about...

The first thing I did on my goal list was create my craft room. I had limited space and funds, so I had to work with what I already had (a desk and a bookshelf) but I love my new room! This actually gave me an idea to do a more detailed post on my room soon.

Lastly, I've been using my camera on manual constantly, but I am nowhere near where I want to be with my photography skills. I used to be so into taking pictures all the time, and even had lists in my journals of all the different photo shoots I wanted to do. I'd really like to get those done some day.

So, in four months, I've only accomplished 3 goals completely, with 2 more in progress. I'm cutting myself a little slack because I also planned my wedding and went on a 3 week road trip, but I am going to be working hard these next few months to make it all happen!

Have you ever made a goal list like this? I'd love to read about it! :)

Outfit: Peter Polka

I did it. I finally put my tripod to good use! I've been getting so discouraged thinking about taking outfit photos, but I made it a goal this week that I take photos of five different outfits. I took 9 for the vintage shop, and this one! I hardly wear both the skirt and the shirt, but I'm trying to mix up my wardrobe more instead of feeling the need to buy new clothes. :)

I found this shirt for five dollars at TJ Maxx, and although the neck is cut a little tight, it's worth wearing every now and then. On another note, my hair is finally long enough to put into a high ponytail! I've been waiting a long time to try some new styles on my hair.

I adore the detail on this skirt (which was also five dollars from Target last year) and I would wear it more if it wasn't too big for me. I wore this outfit with the sparkly Toms I wore my wedding day.

Etsy Shop Update

Hey guys! I've updated Sick Sweet Vintage with some new items. A lot of them were found all over the country while we were on our road trip! Some are from Seattle and Austin, and a few of them are from an estate sale I went to last week. They guy was a lifelong collector of basically everything pretty. I'm sad to let them go, but I'd be such a hoarder if I kept all these pretty things to myself!

(Clicking the image will open a new window to the Etsy listing.)

Music Monday: Monsters of Folk

Monsters of Folk is definitely one of my favorite bands. With M. Ward and Conor Oberst of Bright eyes, and Mike Mogis who has engineered and produced lots of albums for Saddle Creek, it's a genius combination with brilliant lyrics that still blow my mind every time I listen to them.

When I went to search for a video of this song to post, I found this one of them performing in KISS costumes, so naturally I'm sharing. I've had a 10 year crush on Conor and it's not stopping now!

Seattle

Upon arriving in Seattle, Corey had an appointment with an amazing tattoo artist, Munday, who was doing a guest spot although he's originally located only a few hours from our town! It was neat to see someone from the east coast. While he was getting tattooed, I walked a couple doors down to a thrift store, and found this amazing vintage umbrella for only $3! It came in handy, after all we were in the rainy city.

We ate dinner and called it a night. The next morning, we got to visit Fremont Market, labeled one of the best flea markets in the country! I was super excited and it definitely met my expectations. It's weird, because a flea market here means broken tables outside full of junk, and occasionally you'll find something kinda cool. Flea markets in cities are quite the opposite, with all of the rare gems you'd find in my town piled onto tables and appropriately priced a lot higher than I'm used to.

Corey wasn't enthused...

After eating lunch, we drove down to the Pike Place Market, which was equally awesome in a different way. There is so much character in all of the cities we visited and I really miss that now that I'm back home and living day to day in such a familiar small town.

We passed a place that had freshly juiced veggies, and of course I had to get some! It had a lot of beet which I'm not really fond of, but I slurped it down anyway since I paid $5 for it...

I really, really wish we'd gotten to spend more time in that lovely city, but it was Corey's favorite place that we visited, so I'm sure we'll be back someday!

Life Lately

I'm finally getting some of the jewelry supplies I ordered while we were stuck in the snowstorm in South Dakota, so I've been working on some new things for the shop. Expect an update soon!

Since getting back from the trip, I've had a hard time going back to my healthy ways, but I'm finally getting there. Most mornings I eat greek yogurt with fruit, or a 2 egg omelette. And tea instead of coffee!

I've been making orders and packaging them in different ways every time to try and find what I like best. Always a work in progress, though. :)

I've been wanting to make dog treats for a long time, and I finally got around to it! I don't like giving Grizzly treats that are super processed, 'cause I want him around for a long, long time. Recipe post coming soon!

My mom gave me some free Kohl's cash (when you buy $50 worth of their stuff, they give you a free $10) so instead of buying the super cute dress I wanted, I got a new yoga outfit. I'd really like to get more into yoga.

I'm trying to keep myself as busy as possible and have a lot of goals and plans for the coming months. I can't wait to share it all here! I also ordered a new layout (FINALLY!) so I'm really excited about that, too! Also, I can't leave without posting this meme that I find absolutely hilarious...

Home

Corey and I live with my parents. When I found out he was getting deployed, I felt like we had to get a house, so he had somewhere to come home to. So I could have my own space to cook and create and cry out loud when I want to. So my dog could sleep in the bed with me. Plans quickly changed after I lost my job, and I was dreading living at home, once again, for another year while he's gone.

I wanted pictures of our fresh life on the walls to keep me strong.

But I know well that life is not always beautiful, and sometimes you don't get a choice but to be strong. Or at least at like it, so you don't break down the people around you. And hey, sometimes it actually makes you feel better. What I have to remember is that I don't have a choice. I have to be strong.

Especially for one of the few people that I truly love.

Even if tears might be coming from my eyes as I type, I know that it's true. I am beyond blessed, and so damn lucky. I have so many dreams and goals for my life that I am excited about. I have years and years to look forward to with the love of my life. Most of all, I am happy. For the first time in my life, I really know that I am. So even though I might somedays stay in bed and only get out for tea, I know tomorrow I have to suck it up.

Sorry for the lack of posts around here, I want to take this blog to great places and through many improvements, so consider this a start. Or maybe it's just a promise to myself. Either way, I will try to keep the sad posts to a minimum. :)
